Recently, Dazhong Daily published an in-depth report titled “LGMG Remains Global Sales Leader for 10 Consecutive Years,” focusing on LGMG’s achievement of ranking No.1 worldwide in sales of off-highway mechanical-transmission wide-body dump trucks for ten consecutive years.
The report examines how LGMG has brought Chinese-made wide-body mining trucks onto the global stage over the past 14 years by deeply understanding real mining conditions, making early moves in electrification and intelligent technologies, and continuously strengthening its global service system.

From the scorching open-pit mines of Xinjiang in China to the freezing mining regions of Siberia in Russia, from high-altitude operations in Peru to tropical mines in Indonesia, wide-body dump trucks carrying the LGMG logo are now operating at mining sites in more than 60 countries.
Recently, Frost & Sullivan released the 2026 Independent Research Report on the Global Off-Highway Mechanical-Transmission Wide-Body Dump Truck Market, confirming that LGMG ranked first globally in sales in this category for ten consecutive years from 2016 to 2025.
Founded in Jinan in 2012, LGMG has spent 14 years bringing Chinese-made wide-body mining trucks to the center of the global industry.
A decade ago, China-developed wide-body mining trucks were often regarded as low-end alternatives. Today, leading international construction machinery manufacturers have entered the segment, following a market path pioneered by Chinese companies.
How has LGMG maintained its position at the top for ten years in an increasingly competitive market? The answer lies in its understanding of mining conditions, technology strategy and global service capabilities.
Wang Yinshu, President of the LGMG Technology Research Institute, noted that although LGMG was not the inventor of the wide-body mining truck, it accurately captured the opportunities created by the second and third waves of industrial transformation in the sector.
During the early stage of development, wide-body mining trucks commonly faced issues such as insufficient safety performance and high failure rates. LGMG introduced engineering machinery technologies into the segment and promoted the development of larger-payload and more reliable products.
From 2014 to 2022, the company helped drive what it describes as the second industrial transformation of mining transportation and ultimately rose to the top of global sales.
Since 2023, the industry has entered a new stage characterized by electrification, intelligence and digitalization, areas in which LGMG had already begun investing.
More than a decade ago, key components for large mining equipment were still largely controlled by international suppliers. As China’s new-energy battery, motor and electronic-control supply chains matured, LGMG launched hybrid mining trucks in 2020 and subsequently introduced pure electric products.
The company developed a modular platform compatible with both conventional and electric power systems, allowing multiple technology routes including pure electric, hybrid and ultra-fast charging solutions. This now supports a full new-energy product range covering the 60–100-ton class.
LGMG was also among the first to launch an ultra-fast-charging mining truck equipped with a 1,056 kWh battery, capable of charging to 90% in 23 minutes, addressing one of the key challenges of energy replenishment efficiency in mining operations.
According to Wang Yinshu, the foundation behind every “No.1” achievement is real-world validation in mines.
From mining pits with temperatures reaching 70°C to regions as cold as -45°C, and from high-altitude salt-fog environments to hot and humid tropical rainforests, extreme operating conditions serve as the ultimate testing ground for equipment.
While the industry often focuses on specification figures, LGMG follows a strict principle: every product must undergo long-term validation in actual mining conditions before entering the market.
Wang shared one example: a battery removed from a retired mining truck was recently brought back for lifecycle analysis. After operating for two years and nearly 120,000 kilometers, the battery still retained 96.04% of its original capacity.
LGMG’s independently developed multi-unit thermal management system keeps the temperature difference among more than one thousand battery cells within 4°C, compared with an industry level of around 8°C.
This performance also supported an increase in supplier battery warranty coverage from 600,000 kWh of energy throughput to 1 million kWh.
To date, LGMG has supplied more than 40,000 units worldwide, while the cumulative operating mileage of its new-energy mining trucks has exceeded 100 million kilometers.
Strong products provide the foundation for global expansion, but long-term leadership also depends on global service capability.
Du Jianbo, General Manager of LGMG International Aftermarket, explained that what mining customers ultimately value is equipment availability.
To address this, LGMG has introduced comprehensive service contracting models linked to equipment availability and production output.
At the same time, connected-vehicle technologies are enabling a shift from reactive repair toward preventive maintenance, helping transform the relationship with customers from a traditional buyer-seller model into a value partnership.
LGMG has also implemented three major initiatives covering online service, online spare parts and online technical documentation.
The company now operates 16 localized overseas warehouses and more than 400 service outlets worldwide, bringing service resources closer to mining sites.
Ten consecutive years of sales leadership is therefore not simply the success of a single product, but the result of an integrated system.
LGMG has moved beyond the traditional model of only selling equipment. In overseas markets with weaker power infrastructure, the company has developed solar-storage-charging microgrid solutions and established a smart mining business to provide integrated mine operation and management systems.
Zhang Likuan, Vice President of the China Electromechanical Products Distribution Association, commented that as intelligent and green mine development continues to accelerate, the industry urgently needs more advanced and practical technologies and equipment. LGMG’s approach represents a typical example of the transformation taking place in China’s mining equipment sector.
Ten consecutive years at No.1 is not an endpoint, but a new starting point.
LGMG President Zhang Shanrui stated that the company will continue to shoulder the responsibility of bringing Chinese mining equipment to global markets, moving beyond the stereotype that Chinese equipment competes only on cost-effectiveness and establishing a stronger image of Chinese technology, sustainability and reliability.
From being considered a low-end alternative to becoming part of a global market now contested by major international manufacturers, LGMG’s 14-year development reflects the broader transformation of Chinese manufacturing toward the middle and upper levels of the global value chain.
Amid the global transition toward greener mining, Chinese mining equipment manufacturers such as LGMG are helping write a new chapter for Chinese manufacturing.
As Dazhong Daily noted, ten years of sales leadership has never been the victory of a single product, but the result of an entire system working together.
Over the past 14 years, LGMG has grown from Jinan into a global mining equipment player, bringing Chinese-made wide-body mining trucks to markets around the world.
From product exports to technology and service capabilities, LGMG has continued to uphold its brand commitment of “Reliability in Action,” validating every product through real mining operations and supporting every customer through a systematic service network.
And this journey will continue.
